What Is the VA Aid & Attendance Benefit?

Aid & Attendance (A&A) is a tax-free monthly pension benefit paid in addition to a veteran’s or surviving spouse’s basic VA pension. It’s designed for those who need help with everyday activities โ€” bathing, dressing, medication reminders, mobility, or supervision due to memory loss. Many Michigan veterans qualify for thousands of dollars per month that can be used to pay for in-home care like ours.

Most families don’t realize this benefit exists โ€” or assume the process is too complicated. We walk you through it.

Who Qualifies for Aid & Attendance?

You may qualify if you (or your late spouse):

  • Served at least 90 days of active duty, with at least one day during a wartime period
  • Received a discharge other than dishonorable
  • Need assistance with daily living activities, are bedridden, or live with significant memory loss
  • Meet the VA’s income and asset thresholds (we can help you estimate these)

Surviving spouses of wartime veterans may also qualify. Not sure? Call us โ€” a quick conversation tells you a lot.
